Basketball Game Preview: Aberdeen Bobcats vs. Hoquiam Grizzlies

Aberdeen and Hoquiam are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Aberdeen Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Hoquiam Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Aberdeen is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season.

Aberdeen is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Black Hills on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Aberdeen lost 76-50 to Black Hills. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Aberdeen got top-tier performance from Tarren Lewis, who posted 27 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Lewis a new career-high in points. Isaac Garcia was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Hoquiam came up short against Rochester on Wednesday and fell 63-56.

Hoquiam has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points over those games. As for Aberdeen, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.

Aberdeen didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Hoquiam in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 66-61 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Aberdeen since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
