Recap: Morenci Wildcats vs. St. David Tigers
The Morenci Wildcats lost against the St. David Tigers back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Morenci received a tough blow as they fell 46-27 to St. David. Morenci has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Morenci lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayla Wilson. Despite the final result, she scored 8 points along with 4 steals.
Anissa Jacquez was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 12 rebounds for St. David. The contest was Jacquez's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mayla Trejo, who scored 10 points along with 8 steals and 5 assists.
Morenci's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for St. David, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morenci will take on Valley Union at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for St. David, they will head out on the road to face off against Tombstone at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
