Basketball Recap: The Classical Academy of Sarasota Takes a Loss

The Classical Academy of Sarasota was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy Eagles and fell 94-26. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-21.

Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy found their leader in sophomore Gavin Henderson, who went 16 for 27 on his way to 36 points in addition to six boards and six steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Henderson has scored at least a third of Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Victor DeChiara, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 19 points.

The Classical Academy of Sarasota's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Classical Academy of Sarasota will take on Sarasota Military Academy in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Imagine School at North Port at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
