Softball Recap: Roybal Takes a Loss

After flying high against Mendez last Wednesday, Roybal came back down to earth. The Titans came up short against the Bernstein Dragons on Monday, falling 20-10. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Brianna Garcia was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Brisa Cruz was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

Roybal's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 7-4. As for Bernstein, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.

Coming up, Roybal will face off against Belmont at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Sentinels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.3 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bernstein, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-8 win against Orthopaedic on the 30th.
