Basketball Recap: Perry Meridian Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Mariah Thomas and Aubriana Haugh

Perry Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-40 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lowell Red Devils. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Perry Meridian's loss came despite strong showings from Aubriana Haugh and Mariah Thomas. Haugh went 7 of 12 en route to 18 points and seven rebounds, while Thomas posted 16 points and six rebounds. Haugh continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Lowell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bre Kidd led the charge by going 6 of 9 on her way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elysia Laub, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

Perry Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Lowell, they moved to 9-5 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Perry Meridian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-32 loss against Guerin Catholic on the 4th. As for Lowell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-32 win against Highland on the 7th.
