Baseball Game Preview: Weston Trojans vs. New Fairfield Rebels

The Weston Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the New Fairfield Rebels at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Brookfield hit Weston with a six-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans fell 7-3 to the Bobcats. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Weston saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Linker, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Ryan Bigin also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, New Fairfield faced Bethel in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Rebels took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats.

New Fairfield's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-3. As for Weston, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Weston might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from New Fairfield in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
