Softball Game Preview: Elizabethtown Bears vs. Lower Dauphin Falcons

The Elizabethtown Bears will square off against the Lower Dauphin Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Elizabethtown is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 25 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Solanco on Wednesday. They lost 13-1 to the Golden Mules. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Golden Mules recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, Lower Dauphin fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Red Land on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 6-5. The Falcons' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Anece Zubler and Jordan Frye stepped up to the plate in a big way. Zubler scored a run while going 3-for-5, while Frye scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Frye is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyllee Schmidt, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.

Lower Dauphin's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Elizabethtown, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Elizabethtown came out on top in a nail-biter against Lower Dauphin in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
