Basketball Recap: Edgewood Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Emerson Boddie and Lexie Smith

After flying high against Bessemer Academy last Tuesday, Edgewood Academy came back down to earth. The contest between the Edgewood Academy Wildcats and the Lowndes Academy Rebels didn't end well, with the Edgewood Academy Wildcats falling 52-37. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Edgewood Academy had strong showings from Lexie Smith, who posted 18 points and six steals, and Emerson Boddie, who scored six points and six boards. The matchup was Smith's 15th in a row with at least ten points.

Edgewood Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7. As for Lowndes Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Evangel Christian Academy the next time they take the court. Edgewood Academy will head out to face Evangel Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Lowndes Academy will host them at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th.
