Basketball Recap: St. David Gets the Win

St. David's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They pulled ahead with a 36-35 photo finish over the Baboquivari Warriors. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Gracey Crockett continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 11 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Myya Deneweth was another key player, earning six points.

St. David smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Baboquivari lost, don't look at Kara Baptisto. Despite the final result, she posted 22 points and five steals. Baptisto has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last eight times she's played.

St. David has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. As for Baboquivari, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 14-8 record.

St. David has already played their next matchup, a 54-5 victory against Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind on the 27th. As for Baboquivari, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-25 win against Hayden on the 24th.
