Basketball Recap: Kennesaw Mountain Comes Up Short

Kennesaw Mountain played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Alexander Cougars 54-27. The Mustangs have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Kennesaw Mountain saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jisela Ramos posted six points and five steals. Those six points gave Ramos a new career-high.

It was another big night for Nimah Ibidunni, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards for Alexander. Ibidunni's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Aneviya Prothro, who earned nine points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Kennesaw Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Alexander, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-8.

Kennesaw Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-49 defeat against South Paulding on the 1st. As for Alexander, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Alexander Cougars duke it out with the Lithia Springs Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alexander is facing Lithia Springs at the right time seeing as Lithia Springs is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
