La Vega extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 6-2. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 31-27 W against the Robinson Rockets. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pirates also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

La Vega got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jabarie Thornton out in front who picked up 104 receiving yards and two scores. The Pirates also got a significant boost from Elbert Jones, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 97 yards.

As for Robinson, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. The contest marked their lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Robinson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brice McCurdy, who threw for 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 44 yards. Evan Moreno was another key player, rushing for 141 yards.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. La Vega will square off against rival Connally at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. Meanwhile, Robinson is set to challenge their familiar foe Gatesville at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
