Basketball Recap: Wesclin Has No Trouble Against Southwestern

Wesclin won the last time they faced Southwestern and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wesclin Warriors strolled past the Southwestern Piasa Birds with points to spare, taking the game 67-53. That 14 point margin sets a new team best for the Warriors this season.

Southwestern's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ian Brantley, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Brantley a new career-high in assists (four). Cason Robinson was another key player, going 5 of 12 on his way to 15 points.

Wesclin now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Southwestern, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wesclin will square off against Red Bud at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southwestern, they will face off against Litchfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That match will pit two of the most dominant centers against one another: Nate Schaake and Brantley.
