East Webster had won 12 straight at home, but on Monday they bumped their record up to 20-6 to make it 13. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Booneville Blue Devils 11-9. This was a revenge game for the Wolverines: when they faced off against the Blue Devils on Saturday, they had to take a 7-6 defeat.

Ethan Hillhouse was a standout: he got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Lawson Quinn was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Booneville, their loss dropped their record down to 14-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since February 27, 2024.

On Booneville's side, they got a good showing from JJ Simmons, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Simmons has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Colin Flurry and Jacob Matthews did some serious damage despite the final result: Flurry got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and two RBI, while Matthews went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Matthews has become a key player for Booneville: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 12-15 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Sandlin, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
