Baseball Game Preview: Liberty-Benton Eagles vs. Coldwater Cavaliers

Liberty-Benton hasn't had much luck against Coldwater recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Cavaliers at 2:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Liberty-Benton 2.3, Coldwater 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Liberty-Benton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Edison 12-2. Considering the Eagles have won 14 games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Coldwater had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Rockets.

Liberty-Benton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Coldwater, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-2.

Liberty-Benton suffered a grim 12-3 defeat to Coldwater when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
