Recap: Elbert County Blue Devils vs. Swainsboro Tigers

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Elbert County Blue Devils, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 34-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. Elbert County's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Elbert County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacari Barnett, who rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns. Barnett is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played.

Swainsboro's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Demello Jones, who rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Ja'bios Smith was another key contributor, rushing for 79 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.

Elbert County's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Swainsboro, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.

Elbert County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Swainsboro is on the road again on Friday and play against Brooks County at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Brooks County: 17.6, Swainsboro: 10.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
