Basketball Game Preview: Manual Thunderbolts vs. DSST: College View Wolves

Two dominant guards in Zubayr Carpenter and Isaias Tomita are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Manual Thunderbolts will welcome the DSST: College View Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Manual took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They took their contest with ease, bagging an 82-44 win over Kennedy. Given the Thunderbolts' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Commanders are ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, DSST: College View had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Ocelotls as they made off with an 85-59 victory.

DSST: College View's win came from a few key players Manual will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tomita, who dropped a triple-double on 19 points, ten assists, and ten steals. Tomita is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least seven every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alejandro Sandoval, who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points and three steals.

Manual's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.4 points per game. As for DSST: College View, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
