Baseball Recap: Mexico Triumphs

Mexico won the last time they faced Marcellus and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Tigers walked away with a 7-4 win over the Mustangs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Brayden Mack made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Mexico's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Robert, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Robert, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Mexico's record is now 7-5. As for Marcellus, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Mexico and Marcellus could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Tigers (ranked 292nd) will meet Phoenix (ranked 84th) at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Marcellus will challenge Skaneateles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (512 vs. 242).
