Basketball Recap: Wheatland Comes Up Short

Wheatland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They took a blow against the Oakmont Vikings, falling 66-17. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-15.

Oakmont found their leader in sophomore Ocean Munoz, who went 7 of 11 en route to 15 points. That's the most points Munoz has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jayden Washington, who earned eight points and eight boards.

Wheatland's defeat dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Oakmont, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-12 record this season.

Wheatland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-47 loss against Mira Loma on the 5th. As for Oakmont, they have also already played their next game, a 58-56 defeat against Center on the 5th.
