Baseball Recap: Trinity Christian Falls Short Against Ranked the Covenant

Trinity Christian faced The Covenant in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Trinity Christian fell just short of The Covenant by a score of 4-3. The Gryphons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Lucas Fisher was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Trinity Christian got a big performance out of Brody Frank, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Frank has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. Isaac Norman was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

The loss snapped Trinity Christian's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-2 record. As for The Covenant, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity Christian will face off against Potomac School at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for The Covenant, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when The Covenant Eagles duke it out with Highland Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
