Softball Game Preview: Bellville Brahmas vs. Smithville Tigers

For the second straight game, Bellville will face off against Smithville. The Brahmas will challenge the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Bellville has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Smithville will arrive with eight straight wins.

Bellville fell victim to Smithville and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 11-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Brahmas haven't been shut out since back in February.

For Smithville's part, Jessica Hinnant was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Hinnant has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brittney Collins, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kenzly White, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Smithville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Smithville pushed their record up to 21-5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Bellville, their loss dropped their record down to 11-16-1.
