Softball Recap: Schaeffer Academy Takes a Loss

Schaeffer Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 20 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-11. They came up short against the Mabel-Canton Cougars, falling 11-0. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 15-0 to the Cougars when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Mabel-Canton, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-8. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

For Mabel-Canton's part, Schaeffer Academy's batters probably weren't too happy with Tylar Wenthold, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 15 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Wenthold has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tori Snyder, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Ella Halverson was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one triple.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mabel-Canton beat Schaeffer Academy by a score of 10-0 later that day.
