Basketball Game Preview: Clinton Red Devils vs. Eau Claire Shamrocks

The Clinton Red Devils will square off against the Eau Claire Shamrocks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clinton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Eau Claire likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, everything went Clinton's way against Chester as Clinton made off with a 72-50 victory. With the Red Devils ahead 48-27 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Clinton had a senior duo take command as Devin Swindler went 10 of 17 on his way to 24 points and eight rebounds and Tushawan Richardson went 10 for 13 en route to 20 points and five steals. The game was Richardson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyterian Smith, who posted two points and seven assists.

Eau Claire has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-36 heartbreaker at the hands of Mid-Carolina. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Shamrocks came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Rebels are ranked 249th).

Clinton is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Eau Claire, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
