McClain is a perfect 3-0 against Piketon since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. McClain made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Fairfield, but they still couldn't quite topple them. McClain was the clear victor by a 19-3 margin over Fairfield on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their two-run performance the match before.
Cohen Six was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Six was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, McClain got a massive performance out of Conner Chandler, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Hudson Lovett was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
McClain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairfield only posted an OBP of .364.
Meanwhile, Piketon had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against Oak Hill, falling 11-1.
