Recap: Ellicott Thunderhawks vs. Banning Lewis Academy Stallions
The Ellicott Thunderhawks were the 44-20 winner over the Banning Lewis Academy Stallions when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Ellicott fell to Banning Lewis Academy 37-31.
Ellicott's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kassiah Ducworth, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Ducworth is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nova Erickson, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Banning Lewis Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaylee Gentsch out in front who scored 12 points. Gentsch continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Ashtyn McKean was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Ellicott's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Banning Lewis Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-3.
Ellicott will head out on the road to face off against Florence at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Banning Lewis Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Manitou Springs at 6:00 p.m. Manitou Springs is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
