Volleyball Recap: Machias Bulldogs vs. Narraguagus Knights
Machias and Narraguagus squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Machias had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Narraguagus Knights by a score of 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost five in a row.
Machias took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-21, 17-25, 25-21, 15-7.
Narraguagus' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karmen Thompson, who had 28 digs. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Eileen Berry, who had 26 digs.
With the loss, Machias broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-5. As for Narraguagus, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-2.
