Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Southeast Whitfield County's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Southeast Whitfield County unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Allatoona Buccaneers, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buccaneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in August.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-12, 25-15.

Emily Vargas paced Southeast Whitfield County's offense, picking up seven kills. Vargas got some help from Brielle Caldwell and her 11 assists. Briana Fraire Hernandez controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Leading Allatoona to victory were Ella Allison and Ashlyn Jones. Allison had five digs and two aces, while Jones had seven digs and two aces. That's the most aces Jones has posted over her last six matchups.

Southeast Whitfield County's defeat dropped their record down to 15-20. As for Allatoona, they are on a roll lately: they've won 24 of their last 26 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 34-9 record this season.
