Basketball Recap: Connexions Leadership Academy Comes Up Short at Home Against Northeast

Connexions Leadership Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Northeast Eagles on Wednesday, falling 70-12. Connexions Leadership Academy's loss continues a trend for the team, making it seven in a row dating back to last season.

Northeast got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Madison Burris out in front who went 7 of 13 on her way to 15 points and seven rebounds. Those 15 points gave Burris a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Jones, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points and four steals.

Northeast's win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2.

Connexions Leadership Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on SEED at 4:00 p.m. on February 24, 2025. As for Northeast, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Severn School at 5:30 p.m.
