Softball Recap: Summit Storm vs. Caldera
Summit was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss. They lost 7-1 to Caldera. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Summit of the 10-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.
For Caldera's part, Brooklyn Chapin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Chapin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than seven innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Chapin was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Emma Miller was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Morgan Voll was another key contributor, going 1-for-4 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.
Summit's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Caldera, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5-1 record this season.
