Carmichaels is a perfect 9-0 against Avella since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Mighty Mikes will head out to face off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Carmichaels is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Carmichaels had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Mapletown on Tuesday. The Mighty Mikes were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Maples. The Mighty Mikes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.

Bailey Barnyak made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Ali Jacobs and Ke'Lani Chun did most of the damage at the plate: Jacobs went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Chun went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That triple marked the first that Jacobs has hit this season. Ashton Batis was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Carmichaels always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mapletown only posted an OBP of .091.
Avella came out on top against Bethlehem Center on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Bulldogs.
Like Carmichaels, Avella also got a great game from a two-way player: Emily Buel. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Buel was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
Buel wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Avrey Rado, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Carmichaels' victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Avella, their record now sits at 3-9.
Carmichaels took their win against Avella in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mighty Mikes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
