Game recap: Claxton High School Football Team bests Montgomery County

CLAXTON, Ga. - the Tigers scored 21 points in the first quarter to secure a big 28-0 victory over Montgomery County (Mt. Vernon, Ga.) on Saturday.

Claxton scored on three rushing touchdowns in the quarter, including one by Devontay Bacon.

CHS was up 21-0 at the half after taking the lead on a Bacon touchdown run in the first quarter.

The Tigers expanded their lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. Claxton scored once in the quarter on a rushing touchdown.

Bacon was the top performer for CHS. The junior running back ran for one touchdown.



The Tigers entered the contest giving up 21.7 points per game this year. Claxton held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Eagles right around the zero points it had been averaging per game.

The victory was a step in the right direction for CHS, which was coming off a 20-18 defeat at the hands of Jenkins County in its previous game.
