Basketball Recap: Emily De La Garza's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pasadena over St. John XXIII

Pasadena was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost to the St. John XXIII Lions on the road by a 52-34 margin. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lions 16-8 in the first quarter.

Pasadena lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Emily De La Garza, who went 7 for 17 on her way to 15 points and four steals. De La Garza is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caryme Molina, who posted 13 points.

Even though they lost, Pasadena smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Pasadena's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for St. John XXIII, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Pasadena didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-31 loss against Splendora on the 10th. As for St. John XXIII, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 41-31 defeat against Crosby on the 7th.
