Baseball Game Preview: Old Forge Blue Devils vs. Dunmore Bucks

The Old Forge Blue Devils will head out on the road to challenge the Dunmore Bucks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Old Forge's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Dunmore's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Old Forge took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Honesdale by a score of 4-0.

Old Forge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angelo DiMauro, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave DiMauro a new career-high.

Old Forge hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Honesdale struck out 11 times.

Meanwhile, Dunmore hadn't done well against Riverside recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bucks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Vikings. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bucks.

Old Forge is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Dunmore, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Everything went Old Forge's way against Dunmore in their previous matchup back in April, as Old Forge made off with a 6-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
