Highland gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They strolled past the Rio Grande Ravens with points to spare, taking the game 74-60. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hornets also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.

Highland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Juan Limas, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Edwin Montelongo was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and 13 boards.

Rio Grande's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corde Peele, who posted 20 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Adan Velasquez, who had 14 points and five boards.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland will welcome Carlsbad at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Rio Grande, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Menaul at 7:00 p.m. on December 3.
