Basketball Game Preview: Sterling Tigers vs. Fort Cobb-Broxton Mustangs

Sterling hasn't had much luck against Fort Cobb-Broxton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Sterling Tigers will head out to square off against the Fort Cobb-Broxton Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Fort Cobb-Broxton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Sterling, who comes in off a win.

Sterling will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 30 points last Friday, then bounced right back against Cement on Tuesday. Sterling blew past Cement 65-19. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 181st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Fort Cobb-Broxton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 36-31 to Hobart. The contest marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Sterling's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Fort Cobb-Broxton, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-3.

Sterling came up short against Fort Cobb-Broxton in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 55-49. Can Sterling avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
