Baseball Recap: Mecklenburg County Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Mecklenburg County's offense. They came up short against the Tunstall Trojans on Friday, falling 6-0. The Phoenix were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Mecklenburg County got a good showing from Payton George, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. George has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

Mecklenburg County dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Tunstall, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Mecklenburg County will head out to face off against Bassett at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tunstall, they will venture away from home to square off against Magna Vista at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
