Baseball Recap: Spoto Gets the Win

Spoto posted their closest victory since April 29, 2024 on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Freedom Patriots 8-7. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

William Barrios tossed a big game, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since March 1st.

On the hitting side, Devin Dukes was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Spoto is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 7-9 otherwise. Levert Sims Jr was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Spoto has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. Freedom now has a losing record of 9-10.

Coming up, Spoto will challenge Bloomingdale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bloomingdale will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Spoto surely won't give up without a fight. As for Freedom, they will face off against Brandon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
