Basketball Game Preview: Arlington Lions vs. Valley View Eagles

Arlington is on a three-game streak of home losses, Valley View a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Thursday. The Arlington Lions will welcome the Valley View Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Arlington came up short against Rancho Verde and fell 71-64. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the Mustangs are ranked 68th).

Meanwhile, Valley View played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Poly 78-46. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-18.

Arlington will have to contain Kenneth Hutchinson as he made an impact in Valley View's last game. He went 7 of 10 en route to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah McDaniel, who posted eight points.

Arlington's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Valley View, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.

Arlington strolled past Valley View in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 69-53. Will Arlington repeat their success, or does Valley View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
