Baseball Recap: Centauri Takes a Loss

Centauri extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 5-11 in the process. They lost 12-2 to the Pagosa Springs Pirates. The Falcons were not able to make up for their loss to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Warren Shelton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Parker Buhr also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

As for Pagosa Springs, the win snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 8-7 record. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by ten runs or more this season.

On Pagosa Springs' side, Cooper Ralston made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Pagosa Springs is 4-2 when Ralston allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Ralston was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since April 2nd.

In other batting news, Sean Ryan was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Martinez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, one run, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Centauri beat Pagosa Springs by a score of 8-4 later that day.
