Soccer Recap: Smithfield-Selma Starts Season with Loss at Home

Smithfield-Selma unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They fell 4-2 to the Knightdale Knights on Monday. Smithfield-Selma were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Knightdale apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Coming up, Smithfield-Selma is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Triton at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Knightdale will be paying especially close attention to the Spartans' matchup: after the Spartans face off against the Hawks, they'll take on Knightdale again at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
