Basketball Recap: Louisville Takes a Loss

Louisville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 36-34 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mercy Monarchs. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 42-36 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mercy was led to victory by Madisyn Grzebielski and Lizzie Barta. Grzebielski posted eight points and seven rebounds, while Barta had ten points. Those ten points gave Barta a new career-high.

Louisville's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Mercy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

Louisville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 51-33 defeat against Fort Calhoun on the 14th. As for Mercy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-32 victory against Lincoln Lutheran on the 14th.
