Baseball Recap: Monroe-Woodbury's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

Monroe-Woodbury blew Middletown out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Middletown got their revenge. The Crusaders fell just short of the Middie Bears by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Crusaders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Lucas Beers was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Monroe-Woodbury saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Brito, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Brito hit this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Monroe-Woodbury fell to 3-1. As for Middletown, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monroe-Woodbury will take on Warwick at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Middletown, they will face off against Washingtonville at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
