Football Preview: Greeneville Greene Devils vs. Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones
Greeneville and Elizabethton are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2017, but not for long. The Greeneville Greene Devils will challenge the Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Elizabethton is hoping to do what Northview Academy couldn't on Friday: put an end to Greeneville's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Greeneville blew past Northview Academy 56-21. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-7.
Meanwhile, Elizabethton never let their opponents score last Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-0 win over Volunteer. Given the Fighting Cyclones' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Falcons are ranked 301st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rhett Slagle was his usual excellent self, throwing for 172 yards and three touchdowns. Jaiden Wallin helped Slagle out on the ground, rushing for 71 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
