Softball Recap: Lakeland Comes Up Short

If Lakeland was riding high fresh off their 13-3 takedown of Sandpoint on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lakeland fell just short of Sandpoint by a score of 9-8 on Tuesday. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 13-3.

Keirsten Drake was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Raygen Dutton, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Lakeland's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-5. As for Sandpoint, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

Coincidentally, Lakeland and Sandpoint will both be playing Coeur d'Alene the next time they take the field. Sandpoint will host Coeur d'Alene at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Lakeland will host them at 3:00 p.m. on April 8.
