Softball Game Preview: Gilbert Christian Knights vs. Payson Longhorns

For the second straight game, Gilbert Christian will face off against Payson. The Knights will be playing at home against the Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Gilbert Christian has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 25.

Gilbert Christian lost 15-1 to Payson on Wednesday.

For Payson's part, Kinikki Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Smith was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kassidy Cline was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caelee Boyle, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Payson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gilbert Christian only posted an OBP of .278.

Payson now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Gilbert Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-18.
