Football Recap: Montello Comes Up Short

There was early excitement for Montello after they claimed the first score on Friday, but it was Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah who ended up claiming the real prize. The Hilltoppers and the Resorters were almost perfectly matched up, but the Hilltoppers suffered a 27-26 defeat. The Hilltoppers were up 26-12 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

A big part of Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah's victory came down to the chemistry between Cole Wagner and his top target Trayden Rebedew. Wagner threw for 276 yards and two TDs while Rebedew picked up 206 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. That's the most passing yards Wagner has posted since back in October of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Montello and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.
