Baseball Recap: Dixon Comes Up Short

Dixon managed to slip by Byron the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Dukes And Duchesses came up short against the Tigers on Monday, falling 8-2. The game marked the Dukes And Duchesses' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Dixon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gage Helfrich, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double was Helfrich's first of the season.

Dixon's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7. As for Byron, they pushed their record up to 21-5 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home.

Dixon and Byron should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Dukes And Duchesses (ranked 185th) will meet Stillman Valley (ranked 565th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Byron will square off against Genoa-Kingston at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (107 vs. 402).
