Franklin-Simpson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Butler County get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Kloie Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Lilly Ferguson and Allie Utley did most of the damage at the plate: Ferguson went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Utley went 2-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Ferguson has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Grover, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Franklin-Simpson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Warren East came out on top against Glasgow on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Scotties. Considering the Raiders have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Autumn Brooks, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Glasgow off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kynleigh Barrick, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Neville, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Warren East is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin-Simpson, the victory got them back to even at 8-8-1.
