Softball Recap: Jay County Gets the Win

On Saturday Jay County's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Fort Recovery Indians. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Mallory Winner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jay County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brenna Ruble, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base. Ruble is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Jay County's record is now 4-0. As for Fort Recovery, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jay County will challenge St. Henry at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Fort Recovery, they will square off against Newton Local at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
