Baseball Game Preview: Bay Rockets vs. Westlake Demons

The Bay Rockets are taking a road trip to take on the Westlake Demons at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bay barely beat Valley Forge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rockets blew past the Patriots 14-3 on Tuesday. The Rockets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Westlake posted their closest win since May 8, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lakewood 5-3.

Cole Jung made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since April 1st.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chris Campbell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Jung, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Westlake lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Bay and bumps their season record up to 6-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Westlake, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Bay suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Westlake in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
