League recap: Kubilus overpowering for Cheshire in past week

Jordan Kubilus was the best pitcher in Southern Connecticut - Housatonic this week, leading Cheshire. He won zero games and struck out five batters.

Shelton (17-3, 7-1) is red-hot, having won eight straight games, the longest such streak in the league. The streak was extended by another four games over the past week, including a 5-2 victory over Sheehan and a 14-1 win over Wilbur Cross.

The Rams boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. Cheshire has given up a mere 148 hits on the year, while striking out 93 opposing hitters. Kubilus is the leader in that category with 26 Ks on the season.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Vin Sansone, who turned in five Ks for the Rams. With 13 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks fourth in the league.
